For only $45.00 a day, experience Summer Stock to the fullest! In 4 weeks you will work as a traditional summer stock company to produce the musical WORKING. Each member performs, designs, builds and assists on every aspect of a musical theatrical production. Students will create an environment of shared learning by incorporating teens and professionals in a fast-paced production series where everyone involved shares in the responsibility of creating quality theatre.
| WORKING |
| Book byStephen Schwartzand Nina Faso; Music byStephen Schwartz, James Taylor, Micki Grant, Craig Carnelia, and Mary Rodgers; and lyrics by Schwartz, Carnelia, Grant, Taylor, and Susan Birkenhead. Working is based on the best-selling book of interviews with American workers by Studs Terkel, Working explores the American workday from the Monday morning blues to the second shift blahs using the original words of some uncommon common men and women. Twenty-six workers, including a parking lot attendant, corporate executive, newsboy, schoolteacher, gas man, housewife, fireman, waitress, millworker, sailor, etc., sing and talk about their jobs, defining not only their daily round, but their hopes and aspirations as well.
**Shows will be presented on the Large Studio Stage specifically designed for our summer Studio. No elaborate sets or costumes will be used during summer stock. Students will collaborate to design and build what sets and costumes are used.
