HSMT SUMMER 2013!
This year TUTS' Humphreys School of Musical Theatre is celebrating 40 years of training the future stars of Broadway. We offer a year-round, diverse, technique-driven musical theatre curriculum that produces many of the best musical theatre professionals in the nation. You may have seen HSMT students on Broadway, in movies and on television in prime-time network shows.
HSMT encourages education and development of all students through open enrollment classes featured below. Open enrollment classes are designed to train beginner and intermediate students in dance, acting and vocal technique.

Weekly musical theatre camps offer students the opportunity to learn, rehearse and showcase a mini-musical. New family-friendly material is selected each week. No audition is required. At the end of each week a showcase is presented for family and friends. Price: $125

Musical Theatre Summer Camp - Ages 7-12

Mash Up: Students combine a Broadway musical and a big screen movie to create a musical theatre mash up! Sing, dance, act and write as a team for one week to create your own production. Friday classes conclude at Noon to allow for a showcase performance for friends and family. Price: $325

In five days students study with top-level master class instructors in voice, dance and acting. Each day students will study two different disciplines ranging from modern dance to Shakespeare, pop to vocal technique. Other classes include jazz dance, jazz vocals, musical theatre belting, acting for the camera, improvisation, hip-hop and much more! Price: $250

Audition Skills - Ages 13-18 - One Week

Have an upcoming audition? Be prepared after you take this class! Students learn the basics of audition preparation: how to select, study and perform a monologue, learn how to approach 'cold readings' from a script, and navigate their way through a 16-bar musical piece and dance. Students are helped in creating an audition package of two songs, a monologue and a comprehensive performer's resume. The class concludes with a mock audition for the TUTS Artistic Team.

Triple Threat - Ages 13-18 - Two Weeks

Students sing, dance and act as they work together on scenes and songs from a wide variety of musicals. Students will break down text, gain skills in vocal projection, movement, dance, physical attack and character development. The class concludes with a showcase on Friday, June 28 at 4:30 PM at TUTS Studios. Price: $450

Film Study - Ages 13-18 - Two Weeks

Students work as a group to write, cast, film and edit a short film. With help of award winning film maker, Rozie Curtis, you will experience film making from start to finish. The class concludes with a screening for students, parents and friends. Price: $450

Spamalot Workshop
A special Monty Python inspired workshop. Students work on scenes from the film to present in a showcase. Price: $30

HSMT Registration Information
Technical Theatre - Ages 14-18
During the three part course, students:
1. TRAIN with technicians from TUTS and other theatre professionals from across Houston.
2. Develop skills while working in an APPRENTICE with the TUTS' Humphrey School of Musical Theatre and other TUTS crew during a productions rehearsal period.
3. Apply what they have learned during a PRACTICUM while working the technical production for our Summer Conservatory production. Student crews will include:
- lighting assistants
- sound designers/assistants
- stage managers
- prop masters
- assistants in set design
- costume designers
- general wardrobe
- run crew
Each week students will work in different departments throughout the course.
