On Wednesday, March 12 TUTS' Urban Professionals (UP@TUTS) hosted the BATTLE OF THE BEES. Forty young professionals from various organizations competed to be crowned King or Queen of the Hive!
Hosted by the hilarious emcee, Joanne Bonasso, Lucky's Pub was packed with more than 200 people cheering on their favorite contestants in the "End/All BEE/All" of spell-offs!
The winner after several buzzing rounds was Vernitra Jones with The Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals. Jones will now participate as a Guest Speller onstage in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, on Thursday, March 27!
The event raised $600.00 which will be matched by Houston Apartment Foundation. Proceeds will help support TUTS' Education and Outreach Programs and the winning organization.
