Thea Star here. The excitement is building, can you feel it? Legally Blonde – The Musical opens in just a few days, on February 10, running through the 22nd. TUTS has really gone all out in creating fun events where you can be a participant, not just a passive audience member…not that there is anything wrong with simply attending a performance. But, when events are tied to the shows, you feel a sense of ownership and personally I love that.
There are three “special interest” groups that you can join and wear the badge of TUTS with honor: OUT @ TUTS, UP @ TUTS and the Leading Ladies. Now, while Leading Ladies does require a financial component, OUT @ TUTS and UP @ TUTS are free to join.
OUT @ TUTS is designed for TUTS’ GLBT friends, but everyone can join and attend the OUT nights, which fall on the first Thursday night of all TUTS shows, beginning just after the curtain comes down. The cabaret style event happens in Artista, the award-winning restaurant located on the Grand Lobby level of the Hobby Center.
UP @ TUTS is the Young Professionals group but don’t let the word “young” scare you: people of all ages are encouraged to join and are welcome.
Plus both of these groups have no membership dues. You simply need a passion for musical theatre and want to mix and mingle with other like-minded people. Leading Ladies, who just hosted their second annual TUTS at TOOTSIES Style Show, has a mission to passionately support musical theatre education in Houston. They are remarkable women who strive to make a difference in their communities and help TUTS to further its vision and outreach in Houston.
We know people have a love for TUTS and are seeking ways to be more involved, so be sure to check out the different pages on our website to see which group best suits you. Then join, and make sure to sign up for the special StarMails that are sent to members. They will keep you up to date on events before they happen. I can’t tell you how many people ask me “How can I find out about what’s going at TUTS before they happen, not just reading about them after-the-fact” in our regular weekly Thursday StarMails?
You might even run into Thea!
So “BTB” readers, what kinds of events and promotions would you like to see TUTS’ groups undertake? There is a lot to do in Houston and what will make you “Save The Date” and attend? Can’t wait for your feedback and TUTS will be taking notes as we move through this season and beyond.
Until next time, see you under the stars!
Thea Star

Re: Get UP and OUT!
Hi,
How do I do to become a memeber of the group Young Professionals? Where can I find more information about it?
Thanks and regards.
