At Theatre Under the Stars, the Musicals for Young Audiences program is just one of the many ways we have to introduce the magic of theatre to new audiences each season.
All student matinees are $9.75 each, with one complimentary ticket for every 10 purchased!

Student Matinee FAQ
TUTS student matinees are not available to the public. These matinees are for public, private and home schools only.
Click where it says “Click here for our 2019/20 season content guide” which is located above the FAQ section on this page. You are highly encouraged you to read through this information in order to make an informed decision before making your reservation.
TUTS offers student matinee tickets at a significantly discounted rate of $9.75 per ticket. For every 10 tickets purchased, the next ticket is free.
Click where it says REGISTER TODAY located just above the FAQ section. This link will take you to the student matinee reservation form. Simply fill the form out and hit submit. Once you hit submit, you will receive an email indicating that it has been received. Invoices will only be sent to educators purchasing 9 or more seats. Once a reservation is paid in full an automatic receipt will be emailed. The payment deadlines are hard deadlines. All reservations not paid in full by the indicated deadline will be released. There are three ways to pay for your seats. You may pay over the phone with a credit card, put your credit card information on the secure reservation form, or you may mail a check to TUTS. If you are mailing a check, please include the TUTS invoice number on the memo line if applicable. The policy is one chaperone (parent, teacher, or admin) per every ten students.
Your seats, once paid in full, are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
Student matinees are not ticketed. When you and your group arrive the day-of you will be checked in via a list.
Each group is sat based on the size and particular needs of the group. You will learn your seat locations as you enter the building. No special accommodations will be made the day-of.
Accessible seating is available on every level of the theater. For specific questions or requests please contact Courtney Wilson at courtney@tuts.com or (713)558-8826. One week prior to attending your specific performance you will receive an email asking if there are any special needs requests. It is very important that you respond with your needs to this email. This information is what is used to provide to the Operations Team at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts to ensure all needs are met for each performance.
This season all student matinees start at 10:00 AM. Schools may start arriving at 8:45 AM.
There will be at least 2 police officers and 1 EMT at every student matinee. The Hobby Center has implemented bag check at each entrance.From The Hobby Center: All bags entering the venue are subject to inspection. Wand and walk-through metal detectors will also be in use. Prohibited Items: No weapon or items construed as weapons (including pocket knives and mace), over-sized bags, luggage and backpacks may not be permitted. No outside food or beverages allowed.
Yes, we allow cameras inside, but you may only take pictures before and after the performance. No photos or videotaping are allowed during the performance. Any photos or videos taken will be subject to deletion by Hobby Center or TUTS staff.
You will be allowed to bring medication inside with you, however please use the ADA entrance for the security check. The ADA entrance is the first door closest to the breezeway. If you are unsure, please ask a volunteer when you arrive and they will gladly show you to the ADA door.
No food or beverages are allowed in either the theatre or the lobby. If your group is planning a picnic after the performance, your bus will have to circle back to drop lunches off.
Your group should stay together to get seated first and then at your discretion, before the performance starts, you may send students to the restroom. Restrooms will also be open during intermission and please note this will be your last chance as the restrooms will be closed after the performance.
