In conjunction with the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre’s 40th Anniversary, TUTS looked back and marveled on how the school, its students, and the productions have grown! Today, TUTS educates more than 1,000 students annually through HSMT. Each passing year brings more and more talented kids through its doors that produce high energy and high impact productions and community programs.
Through the HSMT Association, former and current students as well as HSMT friends, family, and supporters receive the opportunity to network and reconnect with friends through quarterly newsletters and social events. The Association’s mission is to develop a network of constituents who have an understanding about the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre, feel a significant connection to the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre, and are willing to contribute to the success of the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre by providing financial resources, knowledge, and skills.
In addition to building a strong network of HSMT supporters, the HSMT Association focuses on fundraising efforts to assist with rapidly growing production costs. Through the Artistic Fund, the HSMT Association provides support for the school’s elaborate productions.
“No Day Like Today” to Show Your Support
On September 18 and 19, TUTS’ Summer Conservatory will present to audiences the amazing talent of young Houstonians with its performance of RENT. With sharp choreography, creative costumes, and top vocal talent the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize musical will come to life on the Zilkha Stage and give cast members the experience of producing a professional musical theatre production.
RENT will mark the 12th production of the Conservatory program. Each year, TUTS’ Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) strives to bring Houston’s finest musical theatre talent ages 13-18 together to rehearse and present a fully staged production. Cast and production members have the unique opportunity to enhance their musical theatre training through interactions with TUTS Artistic Team, directors, choreographers and musical directors. These high-caliber productions have grown exponentially, becoming sold-out productions within the Houston community. Just in the past few years, the showcase production costs have increased by more than 130%!
You can show your support by making a donation to the HSMT Association’s RENT Campaign! The campaign contributes to the Artistic Fund which assists with the rising production costs of the Summer Conservatory.
As an individual donor to the HSMT Association’s Campaign, you will receive:
• Recognition in the RENT Playbill
• Invitation to the exclusive dress rehearsal of RENT
Thank you for your gift and your commitment to TUTS!

In order to give HSMT Association alums a better way to communicate and stay in touch with each other, we are putting together a directory. The directory will contain photos, contact information, and an update on what the alum is up to now. The directory will not only allow alums to reconnect, but will also serve as a wonderful networking tool.
The directory will be pass-coded on the TUTS website and will not be open to the public. Only HSMT Association members will have access to the directory.
Keep up to date with the HSMT Association Facebook.
