Fall classes are scheduled to start the week of Sep. 14th. We will begin the year with all classes online.
After the first month of reopening, TUTS staff will reassess the conditions taking into consideration information provided by the Hobby Center, municipal entities, medical and science experts.
When conditions improve, we are prepared to gradually roll out our hybrid training model that includes an in-person option. Select dance classes will take place in-person at our Hobby Center location. Additionally, these classes will be live streamed through Zoom. All other classes will take place online as they have during the first month. Our goal is to gradually increase the in-person training options going into the second semester of the year.
Since 1972, the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre has been committed to providing the Houston area with the very best in theatrical training and performing arts education. Over 1,700 students study with the school annually.
Notable alumni of HSMT include Chandra Wilson (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Kevin Cahoon (“Glow,” “Nurse Jackie”), Stephanie Styles (Kiss Me Kate, Disney’s Newsies), Sadie Sink (“Stranger Things”), Malloy Bechtel (Dear Evan Hansen), Trey Curtis (Hamilton), Sandy Valles (“Queen of the South”), Christian Warner (The Lion King), and Maddie Baillio (“Hairspray LIVE”).
It is the goal of HSMT to provide all students who walk through its doors a greater understanding of musical theatre and of themselves – equipping young people with the tools they need to be successful in whatever they choose to do in life.
Additionally, the school plays an important role in developing theatre professionals who choose to make Houston their home, so that they are able to share their art to the benefit of our community.
