pre-professional cOMPANY

An elite training and performance company of students ages 15-20 that represent Theatre Under The Stars throughout the community, as well as at the state and national level. These pre-professional artists experience a highly disciplined level of musical theatre technique, repertoire, and overall training in voice, acting, and dance through weekly rehearsals, industry professional masterclasses and engagements, competitions, and performance opportunities. musical theatre academy productions

Open to Academy and non-Academy students.

In the 2022/2023 season, we will produce two full scale musical theatre productions and perform them on stage at the Hobby Center. Shows will take place in the Spring and Summer of 2023. CLICK HERE for a tentative program calendar for Spring.

PERFORMANCE TROUPE

Performance Troupe is a great opportunity for students to take classroom technique into practice. Throughout the year, students at HSMT and the River are often requested to perform at various events, programs, showcases, and entertainment venues. The Performance Troupe gives students an opportunity to enhance and showcase their skills while representing TUTS in the community. CLICK HERE for a tentative program calendar.

Junior Theater Festival

Junior Theater Festival (JTF) is the largest celebration of musical theatre for young people in the country. Selected HSMT students will prepare and rehearse a 15-minute snapshot of Mary Poppins Jr.  Any Academy student between the ages of 10-18 is eligible to audition for JTF. Cast auditions and Student Director/Student Choreographer applications open August 12. MAINSTAGE SEASON

For 2nd year and beyond Academy and River students, audition videos are being accepted for Mary Poppins and Rent. All videos will be due August 8. CLICK HERE for a tentative program calendar. Mary Poppins cast will be announced in late August. Rent cast will be announced in October.
