Theatre Under the Stars
The River has provided an accessible, affordable arts education for students with disabilities and their siblings for over 25 years. Arts engagement activities in the classroom offer students the opportunity to expand their imaginations, express themselves creatively, and boost their confidence.
Our dynamic curriculum is led by teaching artists with expertise in their artistic discipline and experience working with students of all abilities. Teaching assistants and volunteers support students in the classroom. A licensed nurse is present during on site courses and camps throughout the year.
Courses take place on Saturdays at the City of Houston’s accessible parks facility, the Metropolitan Multiservice Center @ 1475 West Gray, between Dunlavy & Waugh, 77019.
Fall 2023 is inspired by musicals created by theater writing duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. Spring 2024’s focus is musical theatre powerhouse Alan Menken. This season offers an exciting array of courses and is sure to be the best one yet!
